Dear Google: please don't hijack EVERYTHING to google.com.hk
Posted | archive
Dear Google,
I am sorry for your loss of Chinese search market and I hate PRC ruling class as much as you do. But please don't hijack everything to google.com.hk.
- The Google.com in English hyperlink on your fucking homepage won't fucking work. Is it a placebo button?
- The hijack is IP based and mandatory. You can't choose google.com with hl=en_US or your settings in cookie & Google Profile. You leave your faithful users no choice, no option, no alternative way of searching, just like what the Chinese government did to you.
- THe hijacking is FUCKING STUPID. Whenever I click ANY link start with www.google.com/*, it will be hijacked to google.com.hk. I don't see the point.
e.g.
http://www.google.com/url?q=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Query_(complexity)&source=dictionary&type=de&usg=AFQjCNG79oEEFx_yppkBRnSnt3Oc4V7XTA
Would be redirected to
http://www.google.com.hk/url?q=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Query_(complexity)&source=dictionary&type=de&usg=AFQjCNG79oEEFx_yppkBRnSnt3Oc4V7XTA
then redirected to
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Query_(complexity)
It's only a waste of bandwidth, and instead of making things faster, it actually slow down my browsing experience, DRAMATICALLY! - It creates problems. On Google Buzz and Twitter iphone users are complaining about redirection loop. See more
Again I feel unfortunate about the current situation, but please fix it.
A Google China user.
